چکیده

We provide an experiment analysis of MIMM (Multi Interface Mobility Management) demonstrated in a heterogeneous network involving 802.11b and CDMA access technologies. Wireless LAN (WLAN), or Wi Fi is becoming prevalent means of access to the wireless internet. Especially the advent of the hotspot service brings the roaming user the benefit of receiving broadband internet access while outside one’s enterprise network. But the coverage of the hotspot in public area is still limited and may not be available everywhere. On the other hand 2.5G/3G cellular system provides wide area connectivity to the roaming users. Therefore, the scenario for seamless communication involving movement between cellular and hotspot is becoming realistic these days. Because of lack of available solutions to take care of such mobility scenarios, switching among multi-interface causes several problems as it involves interaction between physical layer, network layer and the application layer. MIMM (Multi-Interface Mobility Management) is a module that helps to realize the seamless interface switching involving 802.11b and CDMA networks .It provides the interaction between cross layers while providing the mobility management solution. Keywords—MIMM; CDMA; Handoff; SIP; MIP

Fast Handoff for Hierarchical Mobile SIP Networks

layer signalling protocol, SIP offers mobility management capability. However SIP Terminal Mobility suffers from considerable handoff latency which is unsuitable for real time applications and frequent local movements (intra domain handoffs). Hierarchical Mobile SIP (HMSIP) was then proposed as a solution to reduce the SIP handoff delay and to provide a complete micro-mobility solution for SIP ...

Efficient hierarchical SIP mobility management for WiMAX networks

By adopting Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) in WiMAX networks, when the mobile node (MN) moves to a foreign network, the MN sends a re-INVITE message to the corresponding node (CN) to re-establish the connection. This re-connection time is the most costly factor for a handoff. To effectively reduce the re-connection latency, a hierarchical SIP (HSIP) mobility management incorporated with MAC ...

Analysis of SIP-based mobility management in 4G wireless networks

Providing seamless mobility support is one of the most challenging problems towards the system integration of fourth generation (4G) wireless networks. Because of the transparency to the lower layer characteristics, application-layer mobility management protocol like the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) has been considered as the right candidate for handling mobility in the heterogeneous 4G wi...
